pe pipe flanging observation hot melt connection standard specification
Aug 13,2020

Hot melting and electric melting are common methods for welding plastic pipes. A method of heating, milling and heating the two PE pipes to be welded by a hot melt machine, melting the ports of the PE pipe, pressing with special tools, and connecting the two PE pipes. Large-caliber pe pipes are suitable for this way of hot melting. Electric fusion uses special fusion pipe sleeves, PE pipe fittings are special hot-melt pipe fittings. The pipe fittings are equipped with electric heating wires to connect to the external column. After the electric heating is melted, the connection is completed. The construction is convenient, the stability is good, and the labor cost is low. The price is high and it is suitable for small diameter pipes.
The flanging of the PE water supply pipe is formed by extrusion during the pipe welding process. It is usually called inversion and flanging. The quality of the flanging also affects the flow efficiency of the PE pipe. Excessive flanging is also prone to scaling , Resulting in the breeding of microorganisms in the pipeline, silting in the drainage project, and reducing the efficiency of water flow.
The reason for the inconsistent height of the pe water supply pipe flanges is that the water supply pipe is not level, uneven, and the heating area is uneven, which must be remelted. In the previous PE water supply pipeline construction, there is no good method to deal with internal flanging. Hengxing Management Industry summarized some of the reasons for the unqualified flanging of PE water pipes:
Hot melt connection standard specification
The connection of pe pipes and fittings should adopt hot-melt connection (hot-melt butt, hot-melt socket connection, hot-melt saddle connection) or electro-fusion connection (electro-fusion socket connection, electro-fusion saddle connection) and mechanical connection (lock Tight and non-locking socket connection, flange connection, steel-plastic over-connection). Pipes with a nominal outer diameter greater than or equal to 63mm should not be connected by manual hot-melt sockets, pipes with a wall thickness of less than 6mm should not be connected by hot-melt butt joints, and polyethylene pipes and fittings should not be connected and bonded by thread. Corresponding special connection tools should be used for various connections of pipelines. Open flame heating is strictly prohibited when connecting. The connection of pe pipes should be of the same grade, pipes and fittings of the same pressure grade, and the connections between pipes and fittings of different grades should be tested to determine whether they can be connected. When performing hot-melting or electro-melting connection operations in cold climates (below -5°C) or high wind conditions, protective measures should be taken, or the process parameters of the connection equipment should be adjusted. When connecting pipes, special cutters or pipe cutting tools should be used for pipe cutting. The cutting section should be flat, smooth, and free of burrs, and should be perpendicular to the pipe axis. Polyethylene (PE) water supply pipelines should be connected with pipes and pipes of the same manufacturer, material, and brand, and between pipes and fittings, and between pipes and pipes. Polyethylene pipes of different SDR series should not be welded. For connection, when pipes and fittings of different SDR series are welded to each other, it is advisable to make the welded joint wall thickness the same through mechanical processing. After heating, quickly remove the heating tool and check for damage.
